About Anna M. Figueroa
Poetry and fiction shaped by tide, light, and the quiet interior life.
Anna M. Figueroa lives and writes from both Vero Beach and Miami, Florida, where she blends her rich life experience with a deep commitment to storytelling that resonates. As a mother, entrepreneur, and breast-cancer survivor, she has forged a path marked by resilience, reinvention, and the bold decision to give voice to the complexities of life.

The work
A voice rooted in placeโand attentive to what changes.
Prior works include the novel โIntimate Strangersโ, a collection of poetry โA Woman Full Grownโ, and a collection of Spanish language poems โUna Mujer en el Caminoโ.
Annaโs writing is grounded in lived reality: she brings the beauty and serenity of Vero Beach, the vibrant pulse of Miami, her deep Cuban American roots and the universal experience of womanhood into sharp focus. She invites readers to stretch beyond what is comfortable, to embrace lifeโs many stages, and to own their voice and their story.
Anna now presents her new book, โ19 Poems from Vero Beachโ, a collection of poems written from Vero Beach, that mirror both the place and the woman she in this moment, along with poems from other moments and a selection of poems in Spanish.

Readers will find in her work both the familiar and the unexpected, the challenge and the hope, and women who are not afraid to ask: Who will I be, now that I have become myself?

A note from Anna
Why these stories
Iโve always been drawn to what lives just beneath the surfaceโwhat people carry quietly, what they donโt say, what they almost say.
Living near the Atlantic has taught me to trust rhythm: the return of waves, the way light changes a room, the patience of weather. I write in that same spiritโlistening for the line that feels true, and following it until it opens into something larger than my own experience.
โThe ocean does not ask permission to arriveโit simply comes, bearing salt and memory, and calls it home.โ
Anna M. Figueroa
My books move between poetry and fiction, between English and Spanish, between the intimate and the universal human experience. If youโve ever felt the pull of a place you canโt quite explainโor a connection to someone that changes everythingโI hope youโll find a little piece of you in the pages of my work.
